Decent working conditions and fair pay for work done should be a matter of course everywhere, but unfortunately this is not always the case. We have co-operated with our suppliers in Nepal for more than a decade, and it has always been important to us to ensure that Én Gry & Sif products are made under decent conditions.
In 2009 we became the first Danish company in our industry to be certified by the World Fair Trade Organization. Certification is a long process; it has meant a lot of extra supplier visits to Nepal, and obtaining a lot of documentation. But it has all been worth it, because it gives an extra guarantee that our factories and workers in Nepal are secured:
A fair price for the products
Regular purchases and a long-term working relationship which provides financial security for the workers and their families
Good working conditions in which the workers have an influence over their work, and are unionised
Human rights in which no-one suffers discrimination because of their gender, race or religion
The right to send their children to school
